Thank You for Your Support!

We love to recognize the individuals, families, and businesses who commit their time at Turn Around Bikes events, workshops, or donate.

Robert Barnhart and Family

Turn Around Bikes would like to extend a thank you to the Barnhart Family.  A thank you that goes far beyond words for making the largest in-kind donation Turn Around Bikes has ever received in memory of their loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

"Robert was a member of Bicycle Aurora and the IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association).  Robert was a graduate of Barnett Bicycle Institute a school founded by John Barnett that offers classes in bicycle mechanics and materials for bicycle repair shops. He loved exploring new trails not only in the Denver area but other areas like Knoxville, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and San Diego. His passion with biking started at a young age in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where he found out not to put his finger in the chain of the bike while turning the crank.

Robert loved his family and always made sure they were outfitted in jerseys, sun glasses, helmets, gloves, and backpacks or camelbaks.  He made his first three grandchildren their first CamelBak to wear because at that time there were no CamelBaks that fit children. All of his riding gear was color coordinated as with his children, in-laws and grandchildren. No one that rode with him was allowed to abuse your rights as a biker and not obey the law. He loved the experience of showing his followers the beautiful things in life, telling stories of the landmarks, making things interesting as you rode along the bikeways. If you didn't have a bike or gear, he would always find the right one for you.

He gave alot to his community, volunteering for cleaning up bike trails, giving his time to help the children in his neighborhood to fix their bikes, teaching anyone that wanted to know about bicycle repair, or just sitting around talking to adults and children about the history of Colorado.  He was so loved by his wife of 48 years, his three children, their spouses, his ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He would have loved his new grandbaby as he did the others.

Robert lives on in our memories and will be cherished forever.  I know he would have loved to known the lives he will touch with his beloved possessions that were donated."  -written and submitted by his wife, Judy
